Maher (Mother's Home in Marathi) was founded by Sr. Lucy Kurien in 1997 to provide care and shelter to destitute women, children and men, and to undertake various community development projects. Maher operates with the vision: No matter who we are we walk together towards wholeness. The first Maher home was established in 1997 in Vadu Budruk near Pune. Since then, Maher has expanded its activities to various locations in Maharashtra, Kerala, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Karnataka, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.
